MacVim Überblick
MacVim ist eine Portierung des Texteditors Vim auf Mac OS X, die optisch ansprechender sein und sich nahtloser in das Mac-System integrieren soll als die ältere Carbon-Portierung von Vim.
MacVim unterstützt mehrere Fenster mit Bearbeitung in Registerkarten sowie eine Vielzahl weiterer Funktionen wie:
- Zuordnungen zu den Standard-Tastaturkürzeln von OS X (⌘-Z, ⌘-V, ⌘-A, ⌘-G usw.),
- Transparente Hintergründe,
- Vollbildmodus,
- Multibyte-Bearbeitung mit OS X-Eingabemethoden und automatischer Schriftartensubstitution,
- Unterstützung für ODB-Editoren,
- Und vieles mehr...
Vor allem aber bringt MacVim die volle Leistungsfähigkeit von Vim 7.2 auf Mac OS X.
Was ist neu in Version 9.2.321
Sicherheitskorrekturen
- Zwischen der letzten Version (9.1.1887) und 9.2.0321 gab es zahlreiche Sicherheitskorrekturen in Vim selbst. Nachfolgend sind einige besonders schwerwiegende Fehler aufgeführt, die in der neuesten Version behoben wurden:
Allgemein
- Sparkle (Updater für MacVim) wurde auf 2.9.1 aktualisiert. Der Updater überprüft nun auch, ob der Update-Feed kryptografisch signiert ist. #1637 #1638
- Die Binärversion wird nun mit GNU iconv anstelle des systemeigenen iconv erstellt. Dies erhöht die Binärdateigröße geringfügig, sorgt jedoch dafür, dass MacVim bei der Verarbeitung von Nicht-Unicode-Dateien (z. B. JIS) konsistenter funktioniert. #1626

Just installed it on macOS Big Sur Version 11.0.1 and still works like a charm!
Maybe anyone would need this little information. I've tried to install it before I installed the XCode and got these error messages:
xcode-select: error: tool 'xcodebuild' requires Xcode, but active developer directory '/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools' is a command line tools instance
make[1]: *** [macvim] Error 1
make: *** [first] Error 2
I then tried to reinstall the macVim (from the command line again -- via brew) once I finished installing the XCode and everything went smoothly and I'm super happy now.

Version: 8.2.1424
Release 8.2.1424 won't run on 10.13.6. It won't open an edit window but the GUI does run. If I try it from the command line, I get:
$ mvim
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/opt/gettext/lib/libintl.8.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/MacVim.app/Contents/MacOS/Vim
Reason: Incompatible library version: Vim requires version 11.0.0 or later, but libintl.8.dylib provides version 10.0.0
Abort trap: 6
